Who we are
pairplay is provided by [[FILL: operator's legal name]], [[FILL: business address]], NIP [[FILL: NIP]], REGON [[FILL: REGON]], [[FILL: CEIDG entry or KRS number]] ("we"). Contact: [[FILL: contact email]].
These Terms of Use are the terms referred to in Article 8 of the Polish Act on Providing Services by Electronic Means. They apply to the pairplay app and to pair-play.com. You accept them when you create an account; the app asks you to accept a new version when the terms change.
Definitions
- pairplay or the service: the pairplay app for iPhone and Android and the website pair-play.com.
- Account: your account in pairplay.
- Pair: two accounts joined with an invite code. Partner: the other person in your pair.
- Desire: something you'd like your partner to do. Reward: something you'd like to receive for fulfilling your partner's desire. Challenge: a partner's desire drawn for you, with a deadline.
- Subscription: the paid monthly plan that unlocks the game and the chat after the free trial.
- Consumer: a person who uses pairplay for purposes not related to their business or profession.
What pairplay is
pairplay is a game for two adults in a relationship. Each of you writes down desires and rewards, sealed so the other can't read them. pairplay draws one of your desires for your partner, at random and with a deadline, and one of theirs for you. When a challenge is done and the other person confirms it, a reward is earned. pairplay also has a private chat with photos and, for desires about restaurants, place suggestions from Google Maps.
Using pairplay with an account is an agreement for the provision of electronic services, concluded for an indefinite period. Once the free trial ends, the game and the chat need a subscription.
What you need
- An iPhone with iOS 15 or later, or an Android phone with Android 7.0 or later, with internet access. Each of you needs your own phone and account.
- An email address.
- For pair-play.com: a current web browser with JavaScript turned on.
Your account
- You may have one account and it is for you only. Give true details and keep your password to yourself.
- Your name is shown to your partner and in the notifications they get.
- You can delete your account at any time; see Deleting your account.
Adults only
pairplay is only for people aged 18 and over. When you sign up you confirm that you are. Some content in pairplay is intimate. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it.
How to play fair
- Consent comes first. Play only with a partner who is an adult and wants to play. A desire is a request, never an obligation: either of you can skip any challenge, and a "no" is final. Don't pressure, threaten or blackmail anyone, inside or outside the game.
- Content involving minors is illegal. Never create, send or ask for sexual content involving anyone under 18. We close such accounts and report them to the police.
- Respect other people. Don't send intimate images of anyone without their consent, and don't share what your partner sends you without theirs.
- No unlawful content. You may not use pairplay to send or store unlawful content, or to harass, stalk or harm anyone.
- Don't attack pairplay. Don't try to break into accounts or our systems, overload the service, or get around its protections or the paywall.
If you break these rules, we may suspend or close your account. Unless the law or the urgency of the situation prevents it, we tell you why and you can respond (see Ending the agreement).
End-to-end encryption and its limits
What your desires and rewards say, and your chat messages and photos, are encrypted on your phones. We can't read them. That has consequences you should know about:
- We can't recover your content. The keys are on your phones. If you lose your phone or reinstall the app, earlier chat messages can't be restored. Sealed desires and rewards can come back only from your partner's phone.
- We can't moderate or check what you send. We can act only on what a report shows us (see Reporting illegal content).
- Your partner sees what you send and could copy it or take a screenshot. Encryption doesn't protect a phone that someone else can unlock, or one with malicious software on it.
- Some information isn't encrypted: your email address and name, who you're paired with, time limits, dates, how challenges end and your subscription status. The Privacy Policy lists it.
- Notifications show your partner's name and a fixed text on the lock screen, never content.
- Compare the safety code in the app with your partner's: if they match, nobody else has joined your chat.
The free trial
- The trial is free, needs no card and lasts 14 days from the moment you pair up.
- There is one trial per pair of people: pairing again with the same person doesn't start a new one.
- When it ends, the game and the chat pause until one of you subscribes. You can still manage your account: subscribe, restore a purchase, unpair, sign out or delete your account.
- We remind you before the trial ends.
One subscription for the pair
- A subscription renews every month until it is cancelled.
- It covers both of you while you are paired.
- It belongs to the person who pays. If you unpair, the payer keeps it, and it will cover their next pair. The other person needs their own subscription to keep playing.
- If you both subscribe, you each pay for your own. You only need one.
- The price, with VAT, is shown in the App Store, Google Play or on pair-play.com before you pay. We tell you in advance if it changes, and the new price applies from the next period after you accept it.
Paying: app stores or the web
You can subscribe in one of three places. Where you subscribe is also where you manage and cancel:
- App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android): you buy from Apple or Google under their terms, and they take the payment. Payment is taken when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in your Apple ID or Google Play settings.
- pair-play.com: you buy from us; Stripe processes the payment. If you subscribe during the free trial, the first payment is taken when the trial ends. You manage and cancel the subscription on pair-play.com/account.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time, where you subscribed. The subscription then runs until the end of the period you paid for and doesn't renew; we don't refund the rest of a period, unless the law requires it. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription: cancel it in the store first. A subscription from pair-play.com ends when you delete your account.
Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer, or a sole trader for whom the purchase isn't professional, you can withdraw from a subscription bought on pair-play.com within 14 days of buying it, without giving a reason. Tell us by email at [[FILL: contact email]], for example with the form below.
When you subscribe on pair-play.com you can ask us to start the subscription right away, before the 14 days are over, and you confirm that you know what that means for withdrawal. If you then withdraw, you pay only for the time you used, in proportion to the price. We refund the rest within 14 days, to the payment method you used.
For subscriptions bought in the App Store or Google Play, refunds and cancellations follow Apple's and Google's rules: ask them through your store account.
Model withdrawal form (fill in and send only if you want to withdraw):
To: [[FILL: operator's legal name]], [[FILL: business address]], [[FILL: contact email]]
I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the provision of the following service: the pairplay subscription bought on pair-play.com.
Bought on: …
Name: …
Email address of the account: …
Date: …
If something doesn't work
pairplay must work as described in these terms. If it doesn't, you have the rights the law gives consumers for digital services, including having it fixed or, if that doesn't happen, a price reduction or ending the agreement. For entrepreneurs who are not covered by consumer rules, statutory warranty is excluded to the extent the law allows.
Complaints
Send complaints to [[FILL: contact email]]. Tell us what happened, when, and the email address of your account. We answer within 14 days of receiving the complaint, by email. Complaints about payments made in the App Store or Google Play go to Apple or Google.
Settling disputes out of court
If you are a consumer and we can't agree, you can use free, out-of-court help: the municipal or district consumer ombudsman (rzecznik konsumentów), mediation by the Trade Inspection (Inspekcja Handlowa) or a consumer arbitration court. Information is at prawakonsumenta.uokik.gov.pl. If you live in another EU country, the European Consumer Centre there can help. The EU's online dispute resolution platform closed on 20 July 2025, so we don't link to it.
Reporting illegal content
If you come across illegal content in pairplay, write to [[FILL: contact email]]: explain why you think it is illegal, show where it is (for example with a screenshot, since we can't see encrypted content), and give your name and email address unless the report concerns child sexual abuse. We confirm that we received the report, deal with it quickly and carefully, and tell you what we decided. If we restrict someone's account, we tell them why and how to contest the decision. We report suspected crimes that put someone's life or safety at risk to the authorities.
Ending the agreement
- You can end the agreement at any time by deleting your account.
- We can end it with 14 days' notice for an important reason: a serious or repeated breach of these terms, or because we stop running pairplay. For a breach that harms others, such as content involving minors, we can close the account at once. We tell you why and you can ask us to look again at [[FILL: contact email]].
- If we stop running pairplay, we refund the unused part of subscriptions bought on pair-play.com.
Liability
We do our best to keep pairplay working and secure, but we are not responsible for what partners do to each other, for places suggested from Google Maps, or for breaks caused by your phone, your internet connection or the app stores. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn't allow it, including towards consumers.
The app
pairplay, its design and its texts belong to us. You may use the app for your own use under these terms. What you write in pairplay stays yours.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for important reasons: a change in the law, new or changed features, security, or a change in how we provide pairplay. We tell you in the app at least 14 days before a change takes effect, and the app asks you to accept the new version. If you don't accept it, you can delete your account before then. Changes don't affect a subscription period you have already paid for.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of that country. Disputes go to the court that the law makes competent. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.
